Bhuvan is a PhD student in the Lab. She completed her Masters in Human Interface Technology in 2016, and has a profound interest in Augmented Reality, Computer Vision and Interface design. With a Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, she pursued her Masters in Machine Intelligence specializing in Computer Vision, Image Processing and Machine Learning. She worked on estimating depth information from monocular videos under varying illumination conditions as part of her master’s thesis.
Before joining HITLAB NZ, she worked as an “Image Processing Expert” in Augmentron, an Augmented Reality based start-up company. She designed a unique circular marker for AR advertisement applications and worked on developing and testing recognition, pose estimation and tracking algorithms for Marker and Marker-less AR applications. Her current research includes developing an AR interface for high reach forklifts which uses depth cues to assist the operators in picking tasks in the warehouse.
