Eduardo is developing a Model of Reciprocity in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI). Reciprocity (do something, receive something) is a main factor in human-human interaction. Reciprocity is a condition for other social phenomena as influence, altruism and fair trades. Following this example, it is possible to describe efficient interactions in HRI. The approach for this research is interdisciplinary and Game Theory is the main set of tools to describe quantitatively this phenomenon. NEC New Zealand is the sponsor of this research and provide a Papero robot. Nao robots are used to develop the experiments as well.
Eduardo has a Master degree in Industrial Design by the UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) and a Bachelor degree in Bionic Engineering by the IPN (National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico). He did an internship in the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics headed by Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro in Osaka University. He has 1 year of Industrial Design studies in the UAM (Metropolitan Autonomous University). He is one of the founders of the HRI group in the Graduate Program of Industrial Design in the UNAM. For this initiative he was awarded with the medal “Alfonso Caso” ; the highest honor given to a graduate student in the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Eduardo worked in the Biomedical industry and he was part of GRE; the first company that distributed Aldebaran robots in Latinamerica. Besides, he was a lecturer in the UNAM (Master in Industrial Design), IPN ( UPIBI, UPIITA and CECyT 9) and other institutions in Mexico.
He enjoys teaching and learning all the time, design videos (Nao robot dances Gangnam Style has almost 300,000 hits), and spend time with family and friends.
