Starting his journey in Digital Design with a Bachelors in Visual Communication, Sathya has several years of experience in creating digital design solutions. He has explored different facets of digital media including web design, mobile application design, ad photography, video editing and direction, print design solutions. His design experience spreads across various sectors of the corporate structure such as product design, research, branding, marketing and communication.


After completing his Bachelors in Visual Communication in Madras University in 2009, Sathya first started as a Reporter for a leading television channel in South India. After a brief period, he moved onto his new found interest in Web design and User Experience joining Cognizant, a multinational software company with over 250K employees. During his stint in Cognizant, he has served several major world players including a seven month period in the eBay India Product Centre in the then newly formed User Experience Design (UED) team. He holds a distinct honour as a Cognizant Certified Professional. Also, has acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration by distant education through Symbiosis International University with a major in Marketing and Communications to support his design skills.


Sathya migrated to New Zealand in 2012, joining Yoobee School of Design and graduated with merits in a Diploma in Advanced Digital Media. Joining as the Design Manager for an exciting start-up called GenieWallet, he built the company’s brand and designed its mobile application before moving to Wellington to join ikeGPS. Serving as the User Interface Designer for one of the fastest-growing product companies in New Zealand, Sathya contributed towards product design, wireframes, mobile application UI design for both iOS and Android applications and internal brand designs. Taking a break from the workforce, Sathya joined HIT Lab in 2015 to pursue his Master’s in Human Interface Technology. After submission of his thesis on ‘Generating an efficient remote collaborative environment using shared gaze’, Sathya joined TradeMe in Wellington as their Mobile Designer for TradeMe’s iOS platform in August 2016.


A major achievement during his academics was representing Christchurch in Student Voice 2013, an initiative by Education New Zealand to support International students. He is also a Disaster Welfare and Support Volunteer in Red Cross, was part of the Executive team in the Student Volunteer Army and served as the President of the UC Indian Students Association in 2016.


Apart from designing, Sathya is an indie rap artist and enjoys lyric writing, busking and has collaborated with several independent artists from around the world.
