Our mission is to empower people through the invention, development, transition and commercialization of technologies that unlock the power of human intelligence and link minds globally.
Our goals are to:
Develop and transition to industry leading-edge human-computer interfaces to accelerate economic development in New Zealand.
Build a world centre of excellence in human interface technology.
Provide multi-disciplinary project-based learning experiences for students.
Act as a bridge between academia and industry.
Our General research themes over the last years have been targeting at the reach of 3 majors new areas in Computer Human Interaction: Augmented Reality, Tangible Interface (TUI), Perceptual User Interface (PUI). Complimentary, a part of our research has been focusing at the intersection of these domains, especially for the development of interfaces that enhance face to face and remote collaboration.
More recently, we have been unifying our research approach in a more general framework describing the importance of iterative user-centered development along the process, and multiple layers of research innovations.
