Andy joined the HIT Lab in October 2007. He is an intern for four months, with the prospect of staying to do his PhD thesis after that. His research is focused on developing and utilising novel interaction paradigms in Augmented Reality systems. He aims to release tasks (and people) from the desktop computer.

Andy holds a German Masters degree in Computer Science from Ulm University. In his Diploma Project, at Fraunhofer FIT, he developed a virtual human-like assistant which accompanies the user as he wanders through the real world. After finishing his studies he worked as a freelance software engineer and then as a research associate at Fraunhofer IAO.

In his leisure time he likes to play tennis and soccer. While in New Zealand, he wants to experience the beauty of nature in this stunning place on earth and add some new hobbies like hang gliding and windsurfing. He also enjoys the no-worries way of living here.
