William is a student in the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at the University of Canterbury. His area of research explores the uses of human interface technology as an art form.


Prior to coming to New Zealand, William worked as Graphics Director for the U. S. Food and Drug Administration where he helped design and develop internet, intranet, and portal sites for the agency. He also developed 3D animations for a variety of promotional, informational and educational projects.


At Mississippi State University, William taught Computer Imaging and 3DAnimation to graduate and undergraduate students on the Silicon Graphics platform. He also taught Perl and video fundamentals, as well as Seminars in Electronic Visualization focusing on the form and content of story-telling in film and animation.


While at the university, he also worked with the Simulated Deep Ocean Relocation project (SimDOR), for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) at the Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.


As a Professor of Computer Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design, he taught 3D Animation , Computer Art Theory, the 'C' programming language, and courses in graphic design.


In 1991, William won the Golden Nica at the Prix Ars Electronica, an international art competition held annually at Linz, Austria and also won the Grand Prix at the Japan Computer Graphics Grand Prix, an international art competition held in Tokyo, Japan. He has also exhibited internationally and shown work at SIGGRAPH.


William studied at the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) at The Ohio State University where he received his PhD in Art Education.
