To experience BlackMagic at home you will need the following:
- A computer running the Windows 98, 2000 or XP operating system. If you are running Windows 98 you will have to copy the opengl32.dll, which you can download here, into the c:windowssystem32 directory.
- 2. A USB web camera. Cameras which work with this software include:
- Labtec WebCam (USB)
- Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000/4000 (USB)
- Logitech QuickCam Express (USB)
- Micro Webcam Mobile (USB)
- Orange Micro Inc. iBOT 2 (USB 2.0)
- Philips PCVC750K (USB)
- 3. The Microsoft DirectX 8.1 runtime software installed on your computer. This can be downloaded from here.
- 4. A copy of the BlackMagic software, which can be downloaded from here [1.8 MB]:
- Once you have downloaded the BlackMagic software, please use the following installation steps:
- Step 1 Download the setup-file for the BlackMagicHome application.
- Step 2 Install the application by a doubleclick on the downloaded file.
- Step 3 Print out the patterns in the /patterns directory.
- Step 4 Plug in camera.
- Step 5 Start the program from the start menu.
- Step 6 When the camera dialogue comes up, select 30 frames per second and click OK.
- Step 7 Point the camera at the printed pattern, making sure that the entire white square is in view.
- Step 8 If the video image is reversed so that text appears backwards click the 'flip horizontal'-box on the camera dialogue.
- Press the ESC key to exit program.
