The theme of the meeting is: INDUSTRY CREATIVITY RESEARCH: Partners in Innovation. During the event we will draw together those who project new knowledge with those who know how to use it productively, both nationally and globally.

Hear about successful partnerships and ground-breaking collaborations from some of the world’s foremost innovators from a diversity of fields.

Keynote speakers include MIT’s Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences Hiroshi Ishii, an expert researcher in human-computer interaction who regularly collaborates on projects that blur the boundaries between a variety of arts, design, and scientific disciplines. Professor Ishii is co-director of MIT Media Lab's Things That Think (TTT) consortium, and director of the Lab's Tangible Media group. More information can be found at: http://web.media.mit.edu/~ishii/

Dr Carl Gutwin, Director of the Human Computer Interaction Lab at the University of Saskatchewan, will also be giving one of the keynote addresses. Dr Gutwin's research covers a variety of topics in human-computer interaction and computer-supported cooperative work. In particular, he is interested in ways that groupware systems can better support the fluid and natural interaction that is evident in face-to-face collaboration. A visionary grounded in hard science, his doctoral research is now a standard reference for others in this burgeoning field. More information can be found at: http://www.cs.usask.ca/faculty/gutwin/

Joining Dr. Ishii & Dr. Gutwin will be Professor Thomas Furness III, Founding Director of the Human Interface Technology Lab (HIT Lab) at the University of Washington. Often labelled the ‘grandfather’ of virtual reality, Dr. Furness is a pioneer in the development of interfaces between humans and complex machines. More information can be found at: http://www.hitl.washington.edu/people/tfurness/

Keynote addresses will also be given by Hon. Jim Anderton , Minister of Economic, Industry & Regional Development & Prof. Mark Billinghurst, Director of the HIT Lab NZ.

Technological innovations from the Human Interface Technology Laboratory New Zealand (HIT Lab NZ) and partner universities and companies will be showcased throughout the day.

The day will conclude with a virtual ARt-themed cocktail party in the stunning new Christchurch Art Gallery.

Ensure that you don’t miss this rare opportunity to interact with premier researchers and representatives from a range of leading edge organisations from New Zealand and around the globe.
