The interactive medical education project is an interactive online tool for patients, students and medical practitioners. Currently comprising of five different subjects - Clinical Pharmacology, Nephrology (kidneys), Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology and Endocrinology (hormones) - the website is designed to explain the most common and important conditions in easily understood, interactive tutorials.

This project is an advancement of the flagship website, Interactive Clinical Pharmacology (http://www.icp.org.nz), a site consisting 37 user-interactive graphics developed to help medical students understand 14 major topics. ICP has been tested with 5th year medical students in the Clinical Pharmacology lecture and tutorial series and received strong positive feedback for the value of this technology in learning.

Adobe Flash has been used to develop these animated tutorials. Use of computer user-interactive graphics for explaining aspects of medical conditions is an exciting innovation that should help improve speed, depth and enjoyment of learning. At this stage it is seen as a useful tool for patients, practitioners and medical students, recognising that it can complement verbal, written or static graphic explanations.
