Julian is a born and bred Cantabrian who recently completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Canterbury. Julian's thesis was on AR Magic Lenses, an interaction and visualisation technique for augmented reality interfaces, developed as part of the MagicBook project. While studying at the HIT Lab NZ, Julian created osgART, a library for quickly developing augmented reality applications. osgART is now actively supported by a team of developers and is used in both commercial and research applications. Julian has also worked on developing software for the VisionSpace visualisation theatre at the HIT Lab. VisionSpace is a three-screen stereoscopic VR environment that includes head tracking and surround sound. |
