UC Summer Scholarship Scheme 2008/09From HIT Lab NZ
Up to 30 scholarships will be awarded in this year's round. Results will be disseminated to applicants and supervisors in late September. Each scholarship is worth $4000. In addition to this, there is a grant-in-aid to assist with travel for those students who are not currently enrolled at Canterbury and are not from the Christchurch area. The following is a list of available projects that students can apply for. You can submit applications for up to two projects but awards will only be one project per student. It is also advisable for you to download and read the 'Project Information' for the project you are interested in applying for (refer to list below). Available: 17th November 2008- 13th February 2009 Scholarship: 4000 NZ$ + travel expenses (at value of 1K$ (Students from other areas of NZ) +2K-4K$ (international students) ) This project involves the development of a basic 3D Visualization framework for the Medipix 3D Scanner (international project involving Medipix Department of University of Canterbury, CERN, etc). During this project the student will implement known techniques for 3D visualization (DVR, hardware accelerated rendering) but also develop new techniques taking benefit of the new capabilities of the Medipix Scanner. During this project the student will extend our previously developed tool but also explore new metaphors and techniques to cluster different type of information or correlate different source of information than can be relevant for the mobile company partner of this project.
